MUYI

Before joining intermission I would have to admit I was in quite a dark place without even realising it. Quite a recluse and although I always wanted to pursue acting (ironic, I know), I don't think I had a clear path on how to go about it specifically. Not only that but I had a really bad habit of beating myself up internally for making mistakes (which is literally what makes us human).

Looking back, what had played as a strong wall for me expressing myself, was probably me. I was my own barrier. However, during so many stages of the program I had so many epiphanies with half of those being outside the workshop/rehearsal room itself.

Example being us receiving journals and now journaling daily which really helps to declutter the mind. Also counselling opportunities that are given to us that helped me become much more self aware with the causes of my behaviours and feelings which not only helps with the art but with interacting with others too. To think there were times I had considered not signing up is beyond me.

I'm entirely grateful for the time I have spent at intermission and practically recommend it everywhere I go to those of age even if one is not wanting to become an actor/actress and is just slightly interested in expressing themselves through the art. I am more than proud to say that intermission is the foundation (and a strong one too) of my training not only for the arts but for life.

As a graduate now they have somehow also entrusted me with facilitating workshop sessions too which gives me not only more confidence in delivering material but also reminders that we are all human and it is entirely ok to fall flat on your face because as long as we are all alive and breathing we have an unlimited amount of chances to tackle any task at life, no matter how big.
